Last weekend saw the completion of the construction of a picnic table. Surprisingly, it was not a cheap thing to build. You may, in fact, be able to buy a picnic table for less than I spent on materials. That said, it is built like a tank, and should last us many summers. The construction was entirely kiln dried pine, (so, framing material) and pressure treated 2x8's to make up the supporting legs. I suppose the idea is that since those legs come in contact with the ground, the pressure treated lumber will hold up a little better.
I'm going to try to sand and stain the tabletop and seats this weekend, which is something I've never actually done before.
